Salkantay trek is an alternative adventure route that allows you to reach Machupicchu, it has a spectacular view with various ecological floors. It allows you to appreciate mountains of vegetation and fauna, we will walk between lagoon and snowed (Laguna Humantay and salkantay) crossing rivers, and sub tropical zone we can observe orchids of different colors and birds of different species.

Early in the morning we will pick you up in our private transport, always accompanied by our guide. We will start our journey towards the valley of the Apurímac River, passing through the pampas of Anta, Izcuchaca until reaching Mollepata, approx. For 3 hours we will continue our journey until Challacancha arrives where our support staff (muleteers and horses) are waiting for us and so we can start walking for about 5 hours. On the way to the valley of the white rivers that comes from the thaw of the Apusalkantay until we reach Soraypampa (3900 masl) where we will have our first camp.

In the early morning we will have our delicious breakfast, we will continue with our trek we will ascend to the Humantay pass and the Salkantay mountain from this point we will have a magnificent view of Santa Teresa that we will be able to appreciate. Then we will start descending 2 more hours approx. Until Huayracmachay where we can have lunch and have a little rest to continue descending for 4 hours until we reach our second camp where we can have dinner and overnight Chaullay.

After our hearty breakfast we will continue descending this day we will enter the jungle where we can appreciate different types of orchid flora and whether as plantations of avocado, coffee, banana, coca, and among others and if luck accompanies us we can also observe “The Cock of the Rocks” among other birds and among other animals. We will have our lunch at Playa Sahuayaco. Then we can take a local transport where it will take us to Santa Teresa. Here we will have the option of visiting the thermal baths (admission is not included) it is recommended to bring a swimsuit finally we will have our third camp in Santa Teresa.

On the fourth day we will have a warm weather early in the morning after enjoying our breakfast we will be able to continue with our walk towards Hidroeléctrica with a duration of approximately 4 hours of walking. This will be our energetic lunch point to continue with the trek along the railway until reaching Aguas Calientes for about 3 hours. We will settle in our respective accommodations (hostel and / or hostel). Then we will have dinner and finally some indications of our Guide for the visit of the citadel of Machu Picchu.

This will be the magnificent day to visit only the Machupicchu sanctuary for which early in the morning we will start with the walk to the archaeological center that lasts about 1 hour. Then we will have our guided for 2 hours by the most important places such as: Temple of the Sun, Temple of the three windows, Intiwatana, Temple of the condor, Main Square, Agricultural Andenes and finally we will have free time to take pictures and be able to explore by our own account so visit waynapicchu (optional) to have a much better view of the citadel of Machu Picchu. Once the visit is over we will take our bus back to Aguas Calientes and wait for the return train to Ollantaytambo where our transfer will be waiting for us to continue with our return trip to the City of Cusco.
