Itinerary

Day 1Cusco (3350m) – Sayllapata (3550m) - Soraypampa (3900m)

We start the day with the pick up of the Hotel in our transport accompanied always by our guide we will have a trip of approximately 4 hours until we reach the town of Mollepata where we can have a breakfast on our own (optional) and a short break we will continue until we reach CHALLACANCHA in where we will be waiting for our staff muleteers and horses then we will start our trek to SORAYPAMPA (3900 masl) aprox.En route we can still appreciate the old Inca canal the canal still supplies water and is used by farmers our walk lasts for 7 km to our campsite in Soraypampa where we will have our lunch and a short break to continue our hike (optional) to the Humantay Lagoon (4200 masl) you can see the glacier, and we will also have a spectacular panoramic view with the valley at sunset this is a walk that lasts 3 hours and 5 km approximately l Then we will tempt you to return to our camp in Soraypampa.

Day 2Soraypampa (3900m) – Huayracmachay (3900m) – Chaullay (2900m)

In the morning after enjoying a delicious breakfast we will begin our trek until we reach the highest point of the “Salkantay” route (4650 MALS – 15,255 FEET) the road is a 3 hour and 7 km ascent. (4.34 miles) when we get to the top we can have a spectacular view of the mountain and the imposing snow peaks of Salkantay, Humantay, Tucarhuay and Pumasillo. Finally we can descend for 2 hours and 3 km. Until we get to Huayracmachay place where we will have our lunch and a small rest we will continue descending for 4 hours more this walk is truly attractive, with colorful landscapes and we will be able to observe a lot of wild life and native plants. The forests are most of the times of the warm year have a warm temperature finally at the end of the trek we will reach Chaullay this will be our second camp.

Day 3Chaullay (2900m) – Playa (2200m) - Hidroelectrica (1900m) – Aguas Calientes (2000m)

Early in the morning we will enjoy our breakfast, then we will start with our walk to Playa. During the route we will observe waterfalls, wild orchids, plantations of coffee, banana, silver, pineapple. We will be walking for about 6 hours. We will see the Colpapampa village called “the cloud forest” where we can appreciate waterfalls and if luck accompanies us we can see the famous ” Cock of the Rocks “after lunch at Playa. Then we will take a local transport which will lead us to the hydroelectric station from this point you will have two options: 1) If you feel very exhausted you can take the train to Aguas Calientes 2) If you still want to walk, you can walk from Hidroeléctrica by the railway It will take us about 3 more hours until we reach Aguas Calientes. Here you have the option of visiting the Thermal Baths. After having a dinner and some indications of our Guide we can go to our hotel or our pool of your choice.

Day 4Aguas Calientes (2000m) - Machu Picchu (2400m) - Cusco (3350m)

Today we will wake up very early to take the first bus that will take us to the Sanctuary of Machupicchu for 30 minutes. Then we will start with our guided tour of 2 hours we can visit the most important places: Temple of the Sun, Main Square, The three windows, Intiwatana, Temple of the Condor, House of the Priest, the industrial sector and the agricultural fields. Then we will have free time to explore this magnificent place on our own and take lots of photos. The other option is to climb the Huaynapicchu or Machupicchu Mountain (not included) to have a better view of the citadel both mountains take 3 hours to get up and down. Finally we will take the bus back to Aguas Calientes then we will go to the train station that will take us back to Ollantaytambo for 1 hour and 40 minutes where our transfer will be waiting for you and then a trip in our transport to the city of Cusco – Hotel.
